Accessing the Okanagan
The Okanagan valley is situated in the Southern Interior of British Columbia. The Okanagan Film Commission's area is comprised of five regions: North, Central, South, Similkameen and Boundary. All have unique characteristics that are ready to be captured on film. All regions can be accessed easily by land or air. Either way, travel time from Vancouver is minimal, offering you the opportunity to function independently in our region or, for short term filming, maintain your Vancouver service providers.

By Land
You have your choice of three Provincial Highways to take you to the Okanagan.

Highway 3 - the Crowsnest - will take you to the Southern portion of our region in just 3 hours of driving time from Vancouver - a distance of 283 Kilometers / 175 Miles. You can continue on this route and arrive in Canada's only desert in just 5 hours from Vancouver - a distance of 396 Kilometers / 248 Miles.

The Coquihalla Highway and Okanagan Connector (Hwy 5 & 97C) transports you from the misty coastal weather to the bright sunlight and arid terrain of the Okanagan. The highway is four and five lanes wide and allows you to drive from Vancouver to Kelowna in just 4 hours. From there it is an easy trip to any part of this fabulous valley. The OFC has road maps available and can send them to you upon request.

Kelowna is located 612 kms from Calgary via Highway 1, the Trans Canada Highway.
