Film Commission Looking for Estate Locations
For Immediate Release: November 4, 2004
The Okanagan Film Commission is looking for unique estates, homes or mansions to include as possible film locations for feature films, television shows or commercials. Digital location images are maintained in an internal database and shown to production companies interested in shooting in the Okanagan.
"We've had several requests over the past few months for estate-style homes and also log homes," states Sara Shaak, Film Commissioner. "We know these locations exist in the Okanagan and we're hoping home owners will come forward and register their property with us. Numerous projects are currently awaiting photographs of options for homes, so the pressure is on us to find some great options in order to keep our area in the running."
The specific requirements are as follows.
Request #1
- Houses/estates/mansions
- Minimum 4000 sq feet
- Unique setting, appealing if lake view, lakefront, mountain view, or orchard
- Large grounds, preferable if limited or no visible neighbours
- All architectural styles
- Must be able to shoot interiors and exteriors
Request #2
- Log House
- Remote setting
- Preferably on waterfront with no visible neighbors
- Must be able to shoot interiors and exteriors
If you have a property that fits the above descriptions, please send a sample photo to info@okanaganfilm.com. If your photo meets the criteria, you will be contacted for additional photos or to arrange for an OFC location photographer to scout the property.
The Okanagan Film Commission's mandate is to generate a positive economic impact by enabling the growth of the Okanagan-Similkameen-Boundary region as a film centre. With record-breaking location inquiries reaching the office and numerous projects scouting, the Okanagan Film Commission looks forward to a strong film future in the valley.
