OKANAGAN TO SERVE AS KEY LOCATIONS IN LARGE SCALE CHINESE-CANADIAN CO-PRODUCTION
"IRON ROAD"
For Immediate Release: April 27, 2006
Network Entertainment has chosen the Okanagan region to serve as a backdrop for some of their key scenes within the $10 Million Chinese-Canadian production of "Iron Road".
"Iron Road" will be a feature film and two part mini-series (CBC 2008) and will shoot in China for five weeks and in British Columbia for 2 weeks. It is the first film in 22 years to be made under the
China-Canadian film co-production treaty.
"Iron Road" is a love story set against the building of the railroad through the Rocky Mountains, starring Sun Li, Peter O'Toole, Sam Neill and Luke MacFarlane. The production team has not yet released information on which actors will be on location for the Okanagan sequences.
Producer Raymond Massey says of the project, "It's a chapter of Canadian history that hasn't been told and in a way it's our apology to China for what happened."
The production team has worked with the Okanagan Film Commission throughout the location scouting process, and has secured relevant crew and supplier information to support the production from the commission. The project will also shoot some of its BC scenes within the Thompson Nicola region.
Network Entertainment is returning to the Okanagan region after production of Making the Cut (2004), and Making the Cut 2: Last Man Standing (2006) in Vernon.
This production marks the third feature film, and the 11th production secured in an already record breaking year for the region. Extras casting, and specific locations information will be released shortly.
