NBC TELEVISION SERIES "PSYCH" SHOOTS IN THE CENTRAL OKANAGAN
For Immediate Release: August 14, 2007

CEDARCREEK TO HOST FILM SHOOT "PSYCH SEASON 2" AND SUPPORT LOCAL FILM INDUSTRY

CedarCreek Estate Winery, well known for its award-winning wines is also a perfect cinematic setting according to the Okanagan Film Commission. The NBC television series "Psych" visited CedarCreek this summer while scouting locations to film an up coming episode for their second season of "Psych" which airs in both Canada and the United States.

The storyline of Psych's Okanagan-based episode includes a 'prominent family-owned winery' and thus CedarCreek was a natural fit for the shoot. "CedarCreek's stunning lakeview rose gardens and Pavilion is the perfect 'backdrop' for this scene," comments Psych producer Mel Damski. "Our Director Joanne Kearn's (formerly Maggie Seaver of the television series Growing Pains) is thrilled about this location for our shoot," adds Mel.

"CedarCreek has been host to many special events with guests, artists and dignitaries from around the world as well as hosting several smaller film shoots," says CedarCreek President Gordon Fitzpatrick. "Hosting a film production of this magnitude is new for us and we are embracing this endeavour as a gesture of support to the Okanagan Film Commission who work tirelessly to attract film directors and producers to the Okanagan. Like wine-tourism, the film industry directly benefits our local economy and we are glad to lend our support."

In a further demonstration of their support to the Okanagan Film Commission and the local film industry, CedarCreek will donate $2,500 to UBC Okanagan's Creative Studies to create a one-time bursary for a student of its' Performance/Theatre studies program.

"Psych" is an NBC television series that centres around a character named Shawn Spencer who was, as a child, groomed by his father to be a detailed observer and analyzer of the world around him. Shawn, now grown up, has bounced from job to job without settling on any specific career. When he is accidentally mistaken for a psychic by the local police, he decides to open his own psychic-detective firm with his childhood friend. Thanks to a lot of moxie and his astute observation, he has become a professional psychic detective…with absolutely no psychic abilities.
